MEET SONGBUSTER

 

Tricia Black is an actor, improviser, writer, and musician. She studied sketch, improvisation and musical improvisation at The Second City Training Center in Toronto and Chicago, as well as iO Chicago. Tricia was a member of the inaugural Featured Players at Bad Dog Comedy Theatre, and was featured in several of Bad Dog's headlining shows. Tricia is also a member of one of the oldest sketch Troupes in the city, “The Sketchersons”. She is the Artistic Producer of a Broadway World award winning theatre company, Tweed & Company, where she writes and composes new Canadian musical works. Twitter : @tric_black

 

Connor Ferris is an interdisciplinary performing artist, having worked professionally as an actor, dancer, singer, and improviser throughout Toronto and his home of Vancouver, BC.  He is a graduate of The Randolph College for the Performing Arts, alumnus of The Second City’s Improv Program, and a highly active member of the Toronto dance community.  Favourite past credits include Albert in Newsies (LOT), Zach in One Small Step (TYT), Ensemble in Heathers: The Musical (Hart House)...and he CAN'T WAIT to add Songbuster to the list!!!

Kyah Green is an improviser, writer, and actor currently studying in the Second City Conservatory Program and performing around Toronto. She is a Season Four cast member with the Bad Dog Feature Players and a member of Toronto’s queer improv troupe, Kinsey Fail. You can catch her on stage in The LOL Word, Kinsey Fail and The Party Show every month at Bad Dog Theatre.

 

Alexandra Hurley is a graduate of Humber College’s Acting for Film and Television. She has performed sketch comedy and improv across Canada and the United Kingdom, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As a singer she has performed in many of Toronto’s most popular and historic venues and most recently she acted in Murder in the Cottonwoods, a hit of the 2017 Toronto Fringe.

Ayaka Kinugawa (Musical Director) holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz as well as a Diploma in Classical Music and she composes music for commercials, films, and a hip-hop project called Kokophonix. Ayaka has lived and performed on a cruise ship as a musical director for the Second City Theatricals. Her other Second City credits include “Unelectable You” (U.S. Tour), “She The People” (Original Composition, Chicago/Toronto), “Miracle on Mercer St.” (Toronto) and “Misfit League” (Original Composition, Toronto). Stephanie Malek, is a producer, actor, singer, and all around nerd from Toronto, ON. Stephanie is the creator and producer of Songbuster - An Improvised Musical which she also performs with monthly at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. Most recently, Stephanie co-produced a sold out Halloween run of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Once More With Feeling where she also performed as Anya. Stephanie can be seen regularly improvising at the Bad Dog Comedy Theatre and Comedy Bar as part of shows like D&D Live and Catch 23. Twitter: @stephanie_malek

 

Josh Murray is a comedian who has performed in many of The Second City's family shows, including What the Elf?, Miracle on Mercer Street, Naughty Listers, Big Bad Wolf & Super Dude and Dr. Rude. He has also been a member of Second City's Touring company. Over the past few years, his sketch troupe, Fratwurst, received critical acclaim for its performances at the Chicago, Montreal, New York and Toronto Sketch Festivals.

 
 

Nicky Nasrallah is a musical theatre trained improviser who cannot believe he gets to combine his two passions here with Songbuster. He is a member of the acclaimed sketch troupe Panacea, improv duo Deranged Marriage, and has taken his solo musical improv act to the Frigid Festival in New York, Halifax Fringe, and Toronto’s Big City Improv Festival. He has played such dream roles are Mark in Rent and Charlie Brown in You're A Good Man Charlie Brown. Nicky is a graduate of Second City’s Conservatory, Musical Conservatory, Longform Conservatory and Bob Curry Fellowship. By day he teaches music to babies through Fun With Music Together and is the creator of Beyography, the Beyoncé dance class that has taken the nation by storm. @NickyNasrallah

 

Jenna Warriner is an Actor/Singer/Improviser who recently appeared in the 4 Star, one woman original musical, Girl's End: A Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, written by herself and Composer Daniel Abrahamson. If you love country music (openly or secretly) you may recognize Jenna from Ca$hMob, or CMT's Hottest on CMT Canada. Comedy Credits include: Slings and Errors; the Improvised Shakespearean Comedy, SINGular Sensation (Statler's Piano Bar), Worst. Day. Ever. Jillian Welsh is a Dora nominated actor and current cast member of the Second City Touring Company. She has been nominated for two Canadian Comedy Awards, and won one for Best Live Production. TV Credits include Working Moms, Tall Boyz, and Brennan and Victoria Make Rent. Selected Theatre: Ophelia in Hamlet American Globe Theatre NYC, ENCORE! US National Tour, Sandra in Served (NOW Best Ensemble) and No Place (NOW Outstanding Performance). Jillian is a graduate of AMDA's musical theatre program in NYC and her stories can be heard on This American Life, CBC's Love Me and RISK! Love to Blue. <3
